Suzanne Anker, fMRI Butterfly, 2008

Anker's manipulation of fMRI scans with inkblots of Rorschach tests are an occasion for awareness about the prorduction of these images, their meaning and interpretations. It also underscores their non-univocal character and reminds us that these images are product of complex numerical processing, embedded in distinct practices of knowledge production and involving a degree of intuition and interpretation.
